In the world of classical piano, competitors Michael and Claire must navigate their blossoming relationship through adolescence and high school... only to see it derailed in college by a visionary dancer and a tragic accident.
This performance was recorded live at the Colburn School of Performing Arts - Zipper Hall on VHS (with subtitles) for documentation purposes only.
Act One is set in Los Angeles and takes place initially as Claire and Michael are thirteen... and then during their Senior Year of High School.
The set, while remaining unchanged, represents a long list of locations including: A Recital Hall, a Neighborhood Street, Michael's House, Claire's House, Backstage at Several Competitions; Onstage at those same competitions, a Car, a High School Music Room, Dan Van Pelt's Studio, a Park, a Baseball Diamond, a High School and Backstage at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion.

Act Two is set primarily in Boston and takes place during Michael and Claire's Freshman Year of college.
The re-configured set again will not change and represents The New England Music Conservatory Campus, an Audition Room, a Classroom, a Dance Studio, a Music Building Hallway, Michael's Composition Studio, a Boston Street, a Night Club, Claire's Apartment, Alex's Apartment, the Marriott Marquis Lobby, the Marriott Marquis Ballroom, a Boston "T" Subway Station, a Hospital, and the New England Conservatory Concert Hall.
Most of the cast plays different characters from Act One except Claire, Michael and Michael's mom.
